Microsoft Word is the most used word processors in offices around the world, it is also known as MS word and Word, MS Word is a software created by Microsoft company which is known as the most popular word processor of Word which is used to create, edit, format and print the document so that you can write letter, application in MS Word. You can prepare Resume as well as, if you want, you can also prepare Flyers, Certificate, Etc. in MS Word, after taking a little training you can learn to run MS Word, let’s know the history of Microsoft Word.

History of Microsoft word

In October 1983, Microsoft introduced CUI (Character User Interface) based Operating System MS Doc and released the first version of Microsoft Word, Word 1.0 for Xenis. Microsoft Word was developed by Charies Simonyi and Richard Brodie Which was the world’s first GUI word processor and Charies Simonyi was working as a primary software engineer on a word processor named Multi tool word.

In 1981 Microsoft hired both these programmers and released the software called Multi tool word in 1983 for Ms Doc and Xenis, later its name was changed to Microsoft Word for the first time in 1983 with the name of PC Word Magazine Microsoft Word Free Floppy Disk was given so that people could know about Microsoft Word. The first version of MS Word for Microsoft Windows was released in 1989, it was the 3.0 version of Windows, gradually Microsoft Word became the most popular for word processing worldwide. Software became and its sales started, gradually a lot of changes were made for word processing. There was no software in the market compared to Word. Today Microsoft Word is the first choice of people for word processing all over the world.

Interesting Fact

In the year 2000, when the Y2K problem came to the whole world, when Microsoft came to know about it, they made Microsoft Word 5.5 available for Dos for free.

Features of Microsoft word

  • There are many features in Microsoft Word that make it a best word processor, let’s know about some of them.
  • The layout of MS Word is very simple, here all the options have been arranged in the icon and menu, so that any new user does not have any problem in running MS Word.
  • There are many pre-made templates in MS Word from which you can create professional documents like Resume, Calendar, Party Invitation, Report, Letterhead, Invoice, Award Certificate, Fax Cover Sheet and Flyer etc. 
  • In MS Word 2019, you can directly save any file in PDF format as well as create a web page document.
  • MS Word supports all the programmers of the Microsoft word suite.
  • The biggest feature of Microsoft Word is its Spell Check Option, MS Word has an Inbuilt Dictionary, whenever you type something wrong, a Red Underline comes under that word, if you want, if you want to turn Auto Correct Option On, then MS Word will fix automatically.
  • MS Word currently supports all types of image formats like JPG and GIF, currently in Office 365 Pro Plus and Office 2019 SVG Vector Image Format can also be imported.

  • Title Bar The title bar is the topmost part of MS Word, where the name of the document is Saw, until you save the file, you will see Document 1 and when you save the file, you will see File the name of will appear.
  • Menu bar is just below the title bar, in which different menus are open according to different groups, currently the menu bar has been converted into a ribbon in which different tabs have been made in which Home Tab, Insert Tab, Page Layout Tab, References Tab, Mailings Tab, Review Tab, View Tab are given in which all the tools of Word Processor are given.

  • To move the scroll bar page up, down and to the right, this tool has been given in MS Word, so that you can use it with the help of the mouse or with the help of the arrow key of the keyboard.
  • Status Bar This is the lower part of the screen in which all the information related to the document is visible like Page Number, Number of Lines, Number of Columns.
  • Writing Area, In MS Word this area is visible in white color where you can type anything. It is also called page by default when you create a new file for the first time its size is letter.
  • Mouse Pointer / Cursor MS Word When you move the Mouse Pointer on the page, it becomes in the shape of a large eye (I) which is the Insertion Point at the beginning of the page which is also called Cursor. Typing will be at the place and will start from there.
